DUBLIN, Ireland – An Irish national broadcaster reported about Majella Moynihan's breach of discipline that happened in 1984. In her investigation, she was also believed to be threatened with dismissal.
However, on Sunday, Drew Harris, Garda Commissioner, apologised to Moynihan for what had happened 34 years ago. Charlie Flanagan, Justice Minister, also made an apology. He mentioned that Moynihan received an awful ordeal, saying that what she went through was wrong in so many ways.
Moynihan said she was happy with the apology, though she said she would have appreciated it if they had personally apologised to her.
Moynihan's story could be seen in RTE's Documentary on One, where she talked about the incident publicly for the first time.
